My Mom always got up early. I remember hearing her singing all the way down in the kitchen. I never thought it was unusual, I thought it was just a normal part of life. As the years rolled by, my Mom and I would talk to each other on the phone around 5:30 am every morning. But now that my beautiful Mother has flown to heaven I find my early mornings are filled with silence, pray and reflection.
No Alarm Clock Needed
I still get up very early and I find it is something that people simply don’t understand. At first, my husband use to say, “What are you doing out there?” and “Why do you get up so early?” He now understands the joy and the bitter-sweetness of the wee small hours of the morning, and he just chalks it up to something his wife does. I also understand that, not a lot of people want to talk on the phone at 5:30 am…in fact no one does…but if you do, please give me your phone number!
